Naturagart Germany GmbH & Co. KG was found in 1979. The company supplies products for pond systems from foil to water treatment, to pier systems, pond plants and so on. Garden ponds and swimming ponds are expertly planned and implemented by Naturagart on site.
At the company's location in Ibbenbüren, those interested in a park can visit ponds of various types. In August 2016, we visited this park and got a guided tour of the nursery, the spacious park and the large aquarium with freshwater fish.
The tour started in front of the nursery of Naturagart. Here, water lilies and various other water and marsh plants are propagated and sold. The plants can be purchased on site by the visitors, but are also sold through the online shop and required for the construction of new ponds with customers. We got an insight into the assortment and different techniques of planting in baskets in the water and nylon tubes on the shore.
The next stop was the aquarium. There live in spacious ponds various species of native freshwater fish such as pike (Esox esox), perch (Perca fluvitilis), red feathers (Scardinius erythrophthalmus), nose (Chondrostoma nasus), bitterlings (Rhodeus sericeus) and gudgeons (Gobio gobio). In addition, there are naturalized species such as the sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) and the black amur (Mylopharyngodon piceus). Particularly noteworthy are the great sturgeons that live here. In addition to sterlets (Acipenser ruthenus) there are sturgeon (Acipenser sturio), Hausen (Huso huso), siberian sturgeons (Acipenser baeri), white sturgeons (Acipenser transmontanus), Adriatic sturgeons (Acipenser naccari) and spoonbills (Polyodon spathula).
In the park there is also the largest foil-pond in Europe. It serves as a training pool for diving courses. Here divers can swim with the big sturgeons and dive through an artificial rock and cave landscape.
